Rower Sally Robbins, who famously lay down exhausted in her boat mid-race at the Athens Olympics, missed out on selection Tuesday for the Australian squad to compete in Beijing.


Robbins, dubbed 'Lay Down Sally' after she stopped rowing in the middle of the women's eights final at the 2004 Games, failed to impress during Olympic trial regattas held in the past two months.
Rowing Australia said Amber Bradley, Kerry Hore, Zoe Uphill and Amy Ives would form the team for the women's quad scull, an event which Australia has already qualified to contest in Beijing.
Her efforts at Athens, which saw Australia finish last in her race, did not endear her to fellow rowers.
At the time, Robbins blamed her collapse -- she slumped into the lap of the rower behind her -- on exhaustion from rowing the first 1600m of the race in extremely hot conditions.
Catriona Sens and Sonia Mills were named to the squad to try to qualify for the women's double scull events at Beijing via races in Poland in June. Pippa Savage will aim to win a berth for the singles sculls.
The men's four, which must also qualify in Poland for the Games, includes Francis Hegerty, Cameron McKenzie-McHarg, James Marburg and Matt Ryan.
